Hello everyone, I have been reading a lot about juice and water fast over here, and I am very tempted to try it out for 15 days. If I see improvements, then I may continue it for a bit longer too.

I have a busy schedule and I am crammed with work and studies, and keeping this in mind I think I will alternate between water and Juice dieting. I will also try and be regular at the gym and put in few minutes of meditation as well.

I think i have many reasons to start this fast... and I will write about each one of them as the days goes by. I haven't weighed myself in a while now, and I know it's way too much... When I start my fast tomorrow, I will list out my weight and my goals.

Honestly, I feel scared that I might not stick to my commitment and I might give up!! I will try very hard to do my best and complete the 15 days...

You guys are awesome. I found this forum while Googling and it's great to have a support forum for the pyschological challenges that come with fasting. I first fasted earlier this year for Lent as a personal goal. It was the hardest 7 days of my life, I lost 15 pounds and then I stupidly just went back to eating the way I had prior to the fast and gained 25 lbs not realizing the boomerang effect that would have on me. I've lost 75 lbs in the past year with Weight Watchers and have been struggling with trying to lift weights and lose weight at the same time and realized perhaps it would be better to do one thing at a time with my body. So I've decided to start a 16 day fast (until Memorial day) to help me get rid of the last of the fat(my goal is to lose 100lbs total) so I can then focus on maintaining the weight and adding more muscle back. I'm on day 3 now and of course I have a super exclusive luncheon at work where I will just be drinking water. I do have a few questions if possible for all of you fasting masters.

I see some posts where people excersise while fasting. Is this recommended?

Should I be taking vitamins during the fast?

Is it okay to add Splenda or even drink coffee? I've been on just water for three days and perhaps I'm going through caffeine withdrawal but I find myself wanting that coffee.

I wholeheartedly agree with those saying that it helps the time pass to realize this is not punishment but a goal that will help me in the long run. Also that it helps to meditate, pray, read and drink lots of water.

Hi, I'm Gwen :D I'm female reaching my 30s, 1.60m and around 220lbs weight >_< So I'm fasting to control my food addiction and eating disorder. This is my first time fasting so I'll be making a journal of my fast to keep myself motivated and so people wanting to start a fast (without previous fasting exp.) can know what to expect.

My diet consisted of salad, 50/50 brown and white rice, and white meat (chicken, canned tuna), but I often went for junk food (pizza, thin crust, once a week, subway, chinese food) or sugar (chocolate mostly, and tons of it, no soda) whenever I felt the cravings which have always won so far and I ate a whole lot . Have two P.E. classes twice a week each (forgot to add a Hatha Yoga class every Friday), but they are short and otherwise I don't exercise. I hate exercising :ashamed05: I haven't prepared for the fast (juice fast a week before, etc) but I did quite a research to know what to expect. So here we go!

Day 1 (Sunday May 13th):

Drinking mostly green tea (powder form, no sugar, lots of ice) It has been ok so far. Most of what I have to do requires me to sit (either painting or 3D modelling) so I kept myself busy. It also helps none of my roommates cook that much, so there were no aromas in the house. Stomach growls something awful, but it's nothing I haven't experienced. No dizziness or nausea. Bathroom break in the morning was the same as always; kept going to the bathroom during the day quite often due to drinking water. Breath was a bit bad, but I didn't check before if it was this bad before. I fell asleep almost instantly.

Day 2 (Monday May 14th):

Mostly green tea. Slept only four hours (due to homework). Today some food was brought to class and could smell a whole lot of other things on my way back. Someone made chili and taco meat which filled my apartment floor, so that drove me a little crazy. Stayed inside my room and kept myself busy. Stomach growls and hunger pains seemed to occur a bit more often than the first day, but nothing out of this world nor unmanageable. Bathroom break in the morning was significantly smaller. No dizziness, no nausea, a very small headache that lasted a minute, a couple of times, but I think that's because of the lack of sleep. Bathroom trips often. Breath was a bit worse than first day, so I brushed my teeth four times that day plus mouthwash. Fell asleep very fast.

Day 3 (Tuesday May 15th): Woke up, no hunger pains, stomach growls, dizziness or nausea so far. A bit of a headache (I wouldn't even call it that) but must be mostly due to not sleeping that much (around 7hs, but needed to make up for the last two days of almost no sleep). Switching to plain ice water. Bathroom break was only liquids. Update: First stomach growl, it seems my digestive system is still working. Update: Stomach kept growling once in a while, I think it's because I didn't drink as much water. I ate a piece of Orbit gum, which I realized later that might have sugar. Need to get some sugarless gum! I almost didn't make it today, but I persisted!

I'm Alex, I'm female, 34, 5'10" (178cm) tall and currently weigh in at 162lb (at bedtime, probably 160lb tomorrow morning). I'm wanting to drop around 15-17lb and I'm starting with a 3 day fast.

I know a lot of people on here do much longer fasts, but I have some experience of fasting (years ago) and know that if I aim too high to begin with I usually crash and burn. So 3 days it is. For now. Regardless, the weight shall be shifted!

Here's to content fasting :veryhappy:.

On Day 3 - One thing I'm finding is that the leg aches from yesterday have gotton worse - it's quite a deep ache and is worrying me a bit. Has anyone else found this with fasting? I was searching online and found that adding himalayan crystal salt might help? Has anyone tried this and will it compromise my fast?

Hi' I've just started water fasting today for only 3-4 days to see how my body handles it and I was wondering, is it ok to add green tea powder to the water? I enjoy the taste of the green tea and I drink it daily and constantly (in fact I drink nothing but that most of the time), but will it affect my fasting? Should I switch to plain water?

Also, I'm severely overweight (around 220lbs) and want to use fasting as a way to break off from the junk food and sugar, will it help me lose fat (not muscle)? I gotta admit that seeing a significant change a little faster would do wonders to my self-esteem, and I've read many accounts of people looking very different after fasting for 14 days (which is my goal after a few short fasts) but I'm afraid the weight will come back with a vengeance.

Day 1

Hi all, I have been re-lurking for a few days now, reading up on some of the new members who have been posting fasting logs, and I am very inspired to continue my journey to become more healthy and fit! I fasted for 20 days in February as preparation to go spend time with a new wonderful man in my life. That trip went very well, and while I was still nervous about my physical appearance, he made me feel very beautiful and loved. I am going to be moving to live with him in July and also will be interviewing for a new job in that time period. I am a project manager and for the last 2 years I have been fortunate to be able to work from a home office. The down side is that when you live and work in solitary its much easier to not work on being healthy and keeping in shape.

I'm 38, 5'9” and fluctuate around 200 – 210 lbs now. Because I’m tall I can pull off extra weight but only with my clothes on! =( I have always been physically active, but was in a car accident a couple of years ago, and ruptured a lower disc. I opted for surgery after about 6 months of being in a lot of pain. In that 6 months I put on almost 80 lbs! (how can that even happen??) During the last fast I lost a good 40 of it, and for the most part have kept it off. (gained back 10ish) I continued to exercise and I think that is my only saving grace, because I started eating unhealthy foods and drinking too much wine. I loved the feeling of not being tied to food, it made me feel very powerful! I long to get back there again... I have actually tried a few times to re-start the fast. But as last time, I needed to come here and tell you all I was going to do it. It makes me feel accountable to someone, which I need.

So, here goes. I will be posting everyday as I did before. I don’t really have a stopping point, I want to be in a size 8 (I am currently in a size 18) I think I will fast till I get there! I don’t have a scale but I think I will go get one. I hate the scale, but I know that it will help keep me honest.

Thank you for reading, and for all the support this site offers!

I started the fast at 260 and ended the fast at a weight of 210. A total of 50 pounds lost (Some water weight) I looked and felt like a new person. Everyone noticed the change and I felt accomplished and strong. I thought my weight could only go down from there….

I kept a journal while on the fast and the journals actuallyhelp a lot. I’m not going to say the water fast was easy because it was not. Iwas not tired or drained like most individuals. I didn’t sleep as much but I had lots of energy. I didn’t have bowel movements on my own so I used a laxative three times a week. I did drink a gallon of water at the beginning ofthe fast. I could honestly say this lasted for about seven days. Drinking a gallon water was becoming too much and I only started to drink water when I was thirsty or hungry. I do not know if this played into my results but I liked it better that way. I also did cardio six days out of a week. Some days I would do an extreme workout and some days I would just do a brisk walk. It all depended on how I felt that day. The first five days was the hardest while on the fast, but after that it was smooth sailing.

When I broke the first 30 day fast I planned to eat for fivedays and return to fasting for 30 days. This plan did not work out too well. I tried and tried but I could not bring myself to stay on the fast longer than aday or two. I ended up gaining all the weight back plus some. I’m now at 266 and I feel like shit and look even worst.

I’m starting a new fast today 5/11/2012…I want to go longert han 40 days but less than 60. If I fall anywhere between there I will be pleased. I’m starting out at 266 and I want to get to 150. I’m 5’11. I know I will have to complete more than one fast in order to reach my target weight lost. I’m tired of being fat and unhealthy.
